Why Not Knowing The 12 Universal Laws May Be Hurting You

Is the Law of Attraction not working for you? Or it may perhaps be working for you in select areas of your life. One of the biggest reasons why the Law of Attraction does not work for everyone is because it is not a standalone law. Just like the Law of Attraction, there are 11 other Spiritual laws of the universe that one needs to be aware of.

When I first learned about the Law of Attraction, I tried everything to get it to work. While I believed in spirituality, I did not understand it. Neither did I have faith. As I embarked upon the journey of what the Law of Attraction entails, I started learning about all these “conditions” and “assumptions” that surrounded the Law of Attraction.

Then I came across what is known as the 12 Universal Laws are operate in tandem and are prevalent universally. I remember rolling my eyes when I learned about them initially because it all sounded a little ridiculous. But as I started meditating on these, I understood how these laws were impacting my life and everything around me. Not only do they help the Law of attraction work, but learning these laws of the universe helps lead a spiritually aligned life.

This is an in-depth article through which you will not only learn the 12 Universal Laws, but also how to get them to work in your life.

How the Universe works

Everything in the universe is energy. As humans, we perceive parts of the Universe to be the vacuum. This is just because our limited 5 senses cannot understand it. We are all energy-vibrating subatomic articles. Subatomic particles are packets of quanta – that are packets of energy and probability. That is what we along with ‘everything’ in the universe are.

This is the reason why everything is considered to be “Maya” or illusion. It is because every event, everything we see – is just a probability of an event. At a given point, hundreds of permutations and combinations exist. This is referred to as the Many Worlds Theory

What are the 12 universal laws?

The 12 Universal Law are considered immutable. They are as they are and co-exist with each other. As you go through these laws of the universe, you will notice how interconnected they are and affect each other. These are no different than the law of physics that we have here on earth.

The Law of Divine Oneness

The law of oneness is a law that states that when we understand the interconnectedness of all things, we can find peace and happiness. This law states that we all come from Source and are all extensions of the Source. We are one and connected. The perception that we are separate comes from ego. But at the core, we are energy and made up of the same particles.

This is the reason why group meditations or being a part of a spiritual “container” is considered to be beneficial to the entire collective. Even as some of us are elevating ourselves spiritually, we impact the rest of humanity through these efforts.

In 2006, advanced transcendental meditation meditators started meditating to experiment if group meditation would have an impact on the entire US. It was found that such large meditation groups correlated with statistically significant reductions in the homicide and urban violent crime rates during those periods confirming how we all are a part of a whole and can influence each other

If you are struggling with forgiveness, jealousy or anger, consider the law of divine oneness. Consider how holding on to these emotions is also hurting you in the process – for we are all one. See this being as a ball of energy, just like you.

The law of cause and effect (Law of Karma)

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap

Galatians 6:7.

The universal law of cause and effect states that every action has a consequence (good or bad) and is returned back to us. If you do bad then bad comes to you. If you do good, then good comes to you. This is the most foundational law of the universe and can be found in every religion.

Hindus refer to this as Karma. Karma can be good or bad and can also come from a past life or affect your future lives. Often times when someone had a hard life in India, you could always hear the older women feeling sorry for the person and saying that it must be their “karma”.

The theory of quantum entanglement provides the scientific explanation for this. It has been scientifically proven by multiple studies that once two particles come into contact with each other, they “affect” each other’s behavior despite the physical distance between them.

This is also why being authentic and true to yourself is also very important. If you do not live your life according to your purpose (dharma) then you can incur karma. This is why one must always strive to live in alignment with their soul.

The law of energy or vibration

vibrational scale showing high vibration emotions at top (joy, gratitude, love), and negative vibrations at bottom (despair, shame, guilt)

Law of Vibration states that we are always in a state of constant movement aka our personal frequency. This includes everything – physical matter such as your car or desk, your body, and even your thoughts. We are all made up of energy – particles of energy that are always in a state of constant vibration.

Our thoughts are very powerful because our vibration is dependent on the vibration of our thoughts. Not only this, but we also have the power to change the frequency of our thoughts.

This is because our emotions dictate the vibrational frequency of our thoughts. Take a closer look at the emotional guidance scale graphic. If your thoughts are predominantly focused on negative emotions, then that is the frequency at which you are vibrating. However, if your thoughts are focused on positive emotions, then positive energy becomes your predominant frequency as well.

The Law of Attraction

Unlike the other laws of the universe, this is the one that most know about and that is the law of attraction. The Law of Attraction is a spiritual law that states that like energy attracts like energy. This law builds upon the Law of Vibration.

Your vibe attracts your tribe and experiences. If you are a negative person, you are likely surrounded by negative situations and negative people that align with your negative emotion (and therefore negative vibrations). However, if you are full of joy and positivity then you are vibrating at a higher frequency and will therefore attract people and circumstances that are vibrating high as well.

The Law of Attraction states that we can create our own reality by changing our thoughts and feelings. This law goes against the idea that we are victims to our circumstances and instead teaches us to take responsibility for our lives. Negative energy attracts more negative instances and positive energy attracts positive.

It is easy to see evidence of this law in your regular life. If you find yourself in a negative vibrational frequency and frustrated, anyone who comes in contact with you will feel the same way. Alternatively, if you are in an elevated state and feeling positive and uplifted, then you will likely cheer up someone else as well.

Ever been to a motivational seminar? There is a reason why we feel so motivated during these speeches. It is because of the high energy atmosphere – the longer we are in, the high we start we vibrate as well.

For the Law of attraction to work, it is very important to believe that something is true at a cellular level. The law of attraction only works if there is zero doubt or resistance in your mind that your desire will manifest.

The law of (inspired) action

You will often hear the law of attraction gurus talk about how actions are very important and must happen in parallel to the positive thinking process.

The Law of Inspired Action states that we have to take action in order to manifest reality in this material world. There is a difference between inspired action and forced action. Inspired action comes from your intuition, but forced action comes from your ego.

Intuition always feels expansive, right, and from a place of love. Ego on the other hand feels contracted, from a place of fear, and will keep you in your comfort zone because it comes from survival.

Inspired ActionForced Action
Feels expansiveFeels comfortable or contracted
Comes from a place of love and abundanceAction comes from a place of fear and scarcity
Idea stays consistentIdeas keep changing
May feel fear because it requires you to leave your comfort zoneFeels comfortable because you it does not need any growth or discomfort
Feels rightFeels stagnant
Idea is random and spontaneous; not logical or orderlySequential or follows a linear order; Very logical
Whisper from intuitionLoud from ego; rooted in survival
Inspired Action vs Forced Action

Before you take an action, always ask yourself if this action is coming from a place of love or fear.

Once you get an inspired idea, ride that way of inspiration and take that action as fast as you can, while you are still inspired.

Law of Relativity

“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”

The law of relativity is all about perspective. This law states that nothing is good or bad, but rather it takes on the meaning that we attribute to it.

Have you ever seen Facebook videos with a rich kid depressed over their struggles in life? If you scroll down to the comments, you will see how people are annoyed as to why this kid has problems even though he has so much money.

We often see our own problems to be big. If we shift perspectives and view them as an observer, we can diffuse the charge behind it and see it much more objectively. If we compare our lives to some of the very unfortunate people who do not even have basics, then our life will appear 100x better relative to theirs.

We can choose the see the blessings in the bad things and opportunities in failure. In fact, this is the only way to get out of the victim mindset that keeps 95% of the population stuff.

Rely on gratitude and positive thinking like it is a full-time job. When you dwell on the negativity, you attract more of it. However, if you choose to see the circumstances in your lives from a neutral lens and recognize the opportunity behind then life becomes full of ease and flow

Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy

The Law of Perpetual Transmutation is similar to Newton’s law – Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, but it can be changed (transmuted) from one form to another. This is why the power of gratitude and forgiveness are considered to be important. It is because, through gratitude and forgiveness, we have the ability to transmute negative energies into positive ones. If

Another aspect of this law is that non-physical energy is always seeking transmutation into physical forms of energy. This is how our physical world exists. This is why the law of attraction exists – thoughts become things. All actions start with a thought and the thought itself has the power of a physical reality that ultimately manifests.

Whatever image you hold in your mind’s eye predominantly turns into reality when aligned with the right emotions. This is why visualization is extremely important in the manifestation process – whether you use meditation, vision board, scripting, or mind movies.

"I always pictured my success. I would imagine it in living color like I was a cartoon character in a movie + that became my business plan."
- Barbara Corcoran

Law of compensation

This is one of those Universal laws that gives an “aha” moment to pretty much anyone who has been trying to manifest success in vain

The law of compensation states that one will always be compensated for their effort and contribution. This is not the same as hustle, but rather 3 other factors.

The amount of money is in direct relation to:

  1. The need for what you do
  2. Your ability to do it
  3. The difficulty there is in replacing it

If you are looking to manifest success, make sure that there is a demand for the thing that you want to do and then focus your efforts on becoming a master at your craft. If you are looking to make money through a business and are frustrated that you are not earning the same amount as your 9-5 job then go back to the law of compensation and journal on the effects that it is playing in your life.

The law of correspondence

“As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul…”
― Hermes Trismegistus

This law states that your external world is a reflection of your inner world. The state of being that is within you will manifest itself into physical reality. This may seem very similar to the law of attraction, and while they are related, this is a subtle difference between the two. This law is also the basis of the shadow work modality in the spiritual community.

The law of correspondence helps you troubleshoot what within you is causing these issues in your life. If you suddenly find yourself with someone who does not have your best interest or someone who is constantly triggering you, then ask yourself: What within me is causing this? What do I need to shift within me to change this? Pray and meditate on it.

Once you understand the lesson you needed to learn from this, forgive the person, and thank them for teaching this lesson to you. Recognize that at the core, you both are extensions of the source through the law of the divine oneness. Recognize that this person is shining a mirror on an unhealed part within you that you do not like. Understand that this person was sent into your life as a lesson because your inner world was asking for it.

The law of rhythm

A vibrating particle is always oscillating – up and down (amplitude), and in waves (cycles). Similar to that, we are always vibrating and so it everything around us. The Law of Rhythm states that all things in the universe move in a rhythm. There are ever changing cycles in the form of seasons, patterns, and stages.

After spring comes summer and after summer comes fall and winter. It is important to work with the rhythms rather than against it. If you procrastinate on the days where you are inspired to take action, it will work against your favor. If you try to push and take action in winter, even when your body does not feel like it then you will work against the natural flow of the universe.

We all have “summer and winter” days – learn to recognize your biological rhythms and cycles to get the most out of this law. Understand that nothing in life is permanent. If you have had a misfortune, know that the tides will change and good fortune will make its way to you unless you keep repeating the pattern that caused the misfortune. Use the law of rhythm to benefit you rather than put you at a disadvantage.

The law of polarity

The law of polarity states that everything in life has its polar opposite – for bad days, there are good days. They are two sides of the same coin. While the law of relativity and the law of rhythm teaches us to accept our current circumstances as an observer and view the low points in our lives as cycles, the law of polarity gives us the tools to do something about it.

If you have a job that is no longer satisfying you, it gives rise to a sense of dissatisfaction within you that is called the “contrast”. Contrast is important because it tells you that there is something within you that does not like the situation that you are in.

Contrast is a call from your soul to take action. To use all the other universal laws and change the circumstance – to engage in the co-creation process consciously. You must have heard of people who were at your rock bottom before their biggest breakthrough – these people decided that they would change things and they did. Recognize that your job here is to observe the contrast without getting absorbed in it and start working the law of attraction.

Without contrast, you would not be able to differentiate and value the differences between the polar ends.

The law of Gender

The Law of Gender is very similar to the law of polarity – this universal law states that everything in the universe has masculine and feminine energies – yin and yang, shiva and shakti – these are equal and opposite forces. In order to live in flow with the universe, you must balance these forces with and around you.

You can see evidence of the law of Gender within us as well. Empathy, Nurture, Spontaneity, Reception, Creative, Compassion, Intuition, Internal guidance, Community, Rest are examples of Feminine energy.

Leadership, Action, Reason, Logic, Strength, Focus, Confidence, Survival, Pride, Power are examples of masculine energy.

The masculine and feminine energy in the right proportion balances each other out. If you hustle all day long, you will find yourself in a state of frenzy and overwork. If you sit on the couch all day long in a state of reception and surrender without any action, you will get no work done and your life will turn chaotic.

We are in a state of flow when we use these energies in balance

Conclusion

I can’t tell you how many times people have told me that the law of attraction will work for them if they just believe in it, but without these other laws of universe to help balance out their energy and life force, they are essentially forcing the law of attraction into working.

What’s your experience with the other universal laws? Do you see instances of any of these laws playing a big role in your life today?
